 Year  Wine  Price  Rating
1997 ZD Reserve Cabernet, Napa Valley
The only 97 among the 01s. This wine is well aged. Cherry and herbs, med body, lacking youthfulness. Out of prime. (Retrospective notes) - so - ws

2001 Anderson Conn Valley Cabernet, Napa Valley
cassis, chocolate, mocha, currant. Full body, reminisent of the 2001 Thorn-Clark Shotfire Barossa Cuvee. Fragrant, evolving aroma. Finishing a bit short as compare to most other 2001 Napa Cabs. (Retrospective notes) - so - ws
44.99 *****
2001 Terra Valentine Spring Mountain Cabernet, Spring Mountain
Cassis, spices, coffee. Complex front palate, with biting tannins. A bit unbalanced for some reason. But well worth the price. (Retrospective notes) - so - ws
26.99 ****
2001 Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer-Tokalon Cabernet, Napa Valley
Consistent notes with previous tastings. Very powerful yet balanced and approachable. I started to like 2000 high-ends more than 2001 high-ends. See notes on 2000 and 2001 Rudd for instances. (Retrospective notes) - so - ws
69.99 *****
2001 Cask 23, Napa Valley
very tight. Lots of fresh herbs: thyme, sage. Cedar. Fruit is mostly hidden except when sucking hard in the mouth. The finish is never-ending. Needs patience. Tremendous effort from SLWC. There is a slight paint finish aroma. This is also present in some other Bordeaux wines that I tasted recently... strange. - so - ws
124.99 *****
