1982 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
2nd bottle. 1st one has a shrunken cork and was oxidized completely. Brownish color. Extremely elegant nose of cedar, tobacco, "wine shop", with a second note of smoky sausage. Dusty, acidic, cassis, mildly hollow in back palate at this time that will hopefully improve in time. 1 hour later, silky, "Tofu Flower", silky, med to long finish. Another 1 hour later, berry, floral, somewhat over the peak. - so - ws
1000 ****½
1997 Paolo Scavino Carobric, Barolo
Almond, tarragon, mussel juice, lobster bisque (are you kidding? no. but this is the first nose after opening, not a true stable aroma), sweet, chalky. Later, berry, astringent, tannic long finish. Later, blueberry, mildly raisiny, cranberry, violet, long finish. Complex and playful. - so - ws
100 *****
1988 Clerc Milon, Pauillac
green pepper, berry, very earthy, tobacco, moth ball, simple, med to long finish. - so - ws

2003 Spring Mountain Vineyards Elivette, Napa Valley
earth, very leather, may not be a true representation of Elivette, vanilla, cough syrup, astringent, much more pleasant in 2 hours, but leather taste increases, super long finish - so - ws
70 ****½
2005 Quinault, St. Emilion
cherry, ginger, grapy, completely indistinguishable from California Cab when first opened. More dusty, earthy profile emerges hours later evolving into blackberry, licorice and hint of chocolate. - so - ws
