 Year  Wine  Price  Rating
2000 Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River
Raymond's. Plum, lavender, mineral, very long finish, thought it was Italian in first round, knew for sure it's an Australian in 2nd round. - so - ws
26.99 ****
2000 Castello di Monastero "Infinito", Rosso Di Toscana
Dominique's. wet earth, barnyardy, chalky, tannic, bitter finish. Not well aerated. Thought it was a medoc. - so - ws
25.99 **
2000 Les Pagodes de Cos, Saint-Estephe
Crystal's. Earthy, currant, mild tannin, watery. Knew it's a Bordeaux. - so - ws
29.99 ***
2000 Les Pagodes de Cos, Saint-Estephe
Vincent's. Mild flavor, berry, unintegrated, tannic. Knew it's a Bordeaux. Need better aeration. - so - ws
29.99 ***
2000 Columbia Crest Two Vines Merlot, California
Pau's. floral, olive, rapberry, very full body, long finish - so - ws
5 ****
2000 Opollo Pinot Noir, Central Coast
Lawrence Chan's. tar, beefy, mint, very full body, great finish. Thought it's a Barberesco. But the jamminess should have given it away as a new world wine. - so - ws
30 *****
2000 Kalinda Special Reserve Merlot, Napa Valley
Bryan's. jammy, cherry, oak, definitely Californian - so - ws
26.99 ****
2000 Columbia Crest Two Vines Merlot, California
Bigland's. awkward aroma of tiredness. Cherry, berry, chocolate. Knew it's a US wine. I am baffled as to why this wine is rated consistently lower than Pau's identical wine. Two theories: in between there were two great wines; the second was not well stored; the latter was aired too long due to the order of serving. Comparative tasting afterwards shows identical tastes, closer to the current rating. - so - ws
5 ***
2000 Reignac, Bordeaux Superieur
Michael Cheung's. Coffee, earth, berry, concentrated, long tannic finish. - so - ws
33 ***
2000 Fetzer Eagle Peak Merlot, California
Hand's. raspberry, olive, spice. Thought it's a pinot noir. - so - ws
9 **
2000 Jim Barry McRae Wood Shiraz, Clare Valley
So Kit's. spice and lemongrass? exotic. - so - ws
28.99 ****
2000 Ridge Santa Cruz Cabernet, Santa Cruz Mountains
My other candidate. Fresh blueberry and cherry. Nice concentration. Chalky and has a long finish. Winning chance is also high. - so - ws
25.99 ****
